Our Squirrels really embraced their first term of French!

It is a pleasure to wish “Bienvenue” to our lovely Reception boys and introduce them to the popular Monsieur Claude (our French puppet!). The boys have settled into learning the French language quickly and by week 4, through various games and pairs work, they knew how to count to 10 as well as identify and say 8 colours.

They are now able to walk around the classroom, shake each other’s hand and practice basic greetings such as “Bonjour, comment ca va, au revoir, merci!”. Clever boys!

The Year 1 and Year 2 boys have learnt a variety of vocabulary and developed their listening and speaking skills. The topic that they enjoyed the most was to learn about their classroom environment: from classroom instructions to the objects in the classroom and expressing their favourite subject, the children have really blossomed.

It was rewarding to hear the boys reflect on their favourite school subjects and justify their preference by using adjectives such as :”Les maths, c’est interessant” or le Francais, c’est super bien!”

2019 will be filled with French fun…watch out for our regular calendar fixture “French Day” taking place on Wednesday February 13th. More news to follow!

Joyeux Noel et Bonne Annee 2019!
