What a busy French term we have had at Squirrels!

Year 2 and Year 1 have really embraced their new learning and are feeling very grown up when singing our popular French songs and rhymes! Exploring French through songs, role-plays and responding verbally is now becoming second nature!

Still lots to learn though. In Year 2 we focused on watching parts of films that are known to the boys in English but have been changed into the French language – we even tried out other languages with our friend Peppa Pig. It is amazing how many languages she can speak! It helps foster the boys’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world.

In Year 1 we have been reading French/English books to help us recognise key words and phrases. We have had informal discussions about France and its culture, in preparation for our famous French day…more on this in our next Newsletter in the Spring term! It is a more informal learning opportunity that the boys always enjoy!

We have even been discussing France in the news. We looked at what is happening to the Notre Dame de Paris church and found out whether reconstruction had begun…the answer is : “OUI” and now starts a long five year wait to see it back to its original splendour!

Joyeux Noel et Bonne Annee 2019!
