Music Matters

It has been a very unusual term for us all and I have no doubt that the boys are all looking forward to a well deserved Christmas break.

I have found it so encouraging to see the boys’ willingness to adapt to Music lessons looking slightly different this term, especially as we gradually started to incorporate more singing into our normal school day again.

This term we welcomed a whole new group of reception boys. They learned about moving and clapping in time with different musical prompts and were introduced to the instruments of the orchestra by Peter and the Wolf. Boys also excelled as they learned their words and songs for the annual Harvest Celebration.

Christmas is always a very special time of year and after Autumn half term life became very busy as we prepared for our Christmas Celebration. We also learned some interesting facts about the ballet -The Nutcracker.

So finally, the Christmas Celebration itself.  I am extremely proud of the boys and of their performance. They were confident, well prepared and sang with great energy, joy and beauty. It really was quite moving. This year more than ever I suspect, we reflect on the importance of music as we continue to build on the wonderful singing tradition here at WCPS.
