Congratulations to all the boys that took part.
Over the Autumn Term, the Year 2 boys have been lucky enough to take part Exploration Society sessions which took place on Wimbledon Common. The boys had the opportunity to be immersed in nature, this offered them the chance to develop their learning through visual, auditory and kinaesthetic experiences. The boys were actively involved in a large range of problem solving and team building tasks.
The boys built upon their problem solving and team building skills each session and were able to establish new social bonds. Their level of communication, empathy and well being soared! The experience inspired their exploration and curiosity. This then encouraged their motivation to learn independently outside the classroom. The boys were heavily encouraged to ‘do and review’ giving them skills to assess their own learning and experiences.
Some of the activities included Powerball, Snake, and building a obstacle course.
Here are some quotes from the boys on how they felt about their day:
Hugo- “I enjoyed the game “Snake” because I got to hide the snake”.
Michael- I enjoyed the game “Powerball”.
Zayne- “I liked the game “Snake” because I got do lots of running”.
Ryan- “I like that we got to work together and learn new things”.
Eilan- “I like crossing the river because I found it challenging”.
Fredrick- “I liked stealing the snake in the game” “Snake”.
Theo - “I like making the obstacle course”
Atlas- “I like The Barrell Challenge because we were successful”
