The week of the 15th November was Extra Kind Week at WCPS and all boys and staff made a huge effort to spread kindness in as many ways as possible. The week started with ‘Odd Sock Day’ and both boys and staff proudly displayed their odd pairs of socks. These represented that we are all different and unique in our own special way which is a good thing. Each boy was given a Secret Friend that they had to be extra kind to for the week and by the end of the week they had to guess who their Secret Friend was based on the kind actions they had done for them. Thankfully, most boys guessed correctly! These are some quotes from boys about how they were extra kind in school.

“I got him his lunch box and water bottle.”

“I don’t normally play with my Secret Friend but I asked him to play with me at playtime and we had so much fun.”

“I collected his coat for him.”

“My Secret Friend told me a joke to make me laugh.”

“I helped him with his learning.”

The drama company, Perform, came into school to deliver a Friendship Workshop for each class. The boys worked on identifying different emotions through body language and what they could do if they thought somebody was upset. They also practised the importance of giving and receiving compliments and how this made them feel. The week further supported the boys’ learning in PSHE where through the Jigsaw curriculum the focus this half of term has been on ‘Celebrating Differences.’ At WCPS we all agree with the well- known saying: “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
