On Tuesday 5th February, Birch Class took to the stage in Orchard Hall to perform a brilliant assembly about one of their favourite authors, Roald Dahl.
They shared facts about his life, performed one of his poems, The Crocodile, about a vile animal named ‘Croccywoc’ and even shared some of their made up words inspired by Roald Dahl’s own imaginary language, Gobblefunk!
In addition, Birch Class also created an animation they had made using the Puppet Pals app. They scripted the animation and drew all of the characters and backgrounds themselves - we certainly have some promising filmmakers in our midst!
The boys shone on stage and the highlight of the assembly had to be the wonderful performance of ‘When I Grow Up’ from Matilda the musical. They sang beautifully and there were not many dry eyes left amongst the parents by the end!
Huge thanks to the parents of Birch Class for providing the costumes and supporting the boys in learning their lines. I was a very proud teacher watching the boys perform; they were wonderful.
