Reception Mathematics Workshop
On Thursday 16th January, the parents of our Reception boys gathered in Orchard Hall to take part in our annual Mathematics Workshop. The aims of the workshop were to share how maths is taught in the Early Years at WCPS and to explain how children can be supported with their learning at home.
During the boys’ reception year, their mathematical journey takes them from learning basic number formation and counting to the more advanced skills of problem solving and reasoning. At WCPS, mathematical learning does not just take place in the classroom. In our outdoor area the boys develop their mathematical skills by learning through play and exploring practical equipment. We use the water tray to learn about capacity, giant scales to measure weight and count everything around us!
Thank you to all those who took part in this event. I hope that everyone who attended the session found it informative and helpful.
