On Thursday 12th March, Year Two enjoyed a wonderful trip to The Wimbledon Tennis Championships to complement their topic work this term about London and our local environment.
The boys took part in a story hunt challenge, where they had to solve clues to gain access to behind the scenes locations around the grounds. The boys particularly loved seeing the media suite, where the boys conducted their own press conference and they got to see where Sue Barker sits in the BBC studio. The boys also loved seeing Centre Court as well as learning about how the grounds are maintained throughout the year. They even learnt all about the pet hawk who is used to scare away the pigeons!
They also visited the museum to learn about the history of the championships and to see the trophies up close. The boys enjoyed purchasing some souvenirs from the shop. I think we have some budding tennis players who hope to one day be visiting as professional players! Many thanks to our wonderful parent helpers who joined us for this wonderful day out.
