Most children join WCPS at the age of 4 into one of four Reception classes. An overview of our transition to co-education can be seen below:

2026/27 - boys in all years

2027/28 - co-ed in Reception; boys in Y1 and Y2

2028/29 - co-ed in Reception and Y1; boys in Y2

2029/30 - fully co-educational

Pupils join us from a diverse range of nurseries and early learning settings.  We celebrate the richness of these varied backgrounds and ensure a smooth and supportive transition into school life.  All applicants, including occasional places, take part in an assessment process as part of our admissions procedure. These relaxed 'Getting to Know You' sessions ensure all children starting at WCPS, will thrive and flourish in our school.

We understand that choosing the right school for your child can seem like a daunting process and as it is such an important decision, we aim to make it as easy a journey as possible.

Joining Reception

Admission is at 4 years old into Reception.

Registrations are accepted from birth, as soon as the birth certificate is available. Please complete the registration form, this can be downloaded by clicking the link on the right hand side of the page, and paying online the registration fee of £240. Please return this form, along with the birth certificate, to info@wcps.org.uk or via the post.

Our 'Getting to Know You' Process

Children who would like to join WCPS are invited to attend one of our termly 'Getting to Know You' sessions.

The children are incredibly young, so our entry process is focused on us getting to know them in a friendly and fun environment. Held in one of our Reception classrooms, the setting will feel familiar to those children who attend a nursery. There will be activities on offer that are specifically designed to enable your child to relax and be themselves. We are looking for potential, rather than what has already been learnt. During the session our Early Years specialists will be looking for each child’s language and social skills, as well as number, physical and creative skills.

For more detailed information about our newly updated  ‘Getting to Know You’ process, please read our Approach to Co-educational Admissions booklet: Admissions Booklet by King's College School, Wimbledon - Issuu

Occasional Places

Occasional places arise from time to time in all year groups. Parents should contact the School Office for current details of availability. Once registered, your child will be invited to a 'Getting to Know You' session, to establish whether they will thrive at WCPS. We will also request a report from their nursery or current school.
