Below are the answers to some of our frequently asked questions:

  • How do I get to see around Wimbledon Common Prep School? If your child is due to start with us within the year then please contact the school office and a tour will be arranged. Due to the size of the school we do not offer ad-hoc tours for all. Parents are welcome to look around the school at our open mornings.
  •  Who should I contact about Admissions? Please contact Mrs Large or Mrs Salibi in the school office on 020 8946 1001. They will be able to assist you or email info@wcps.org.uk
  • What happens when I submit a registration? We will input the data and acknowledge receipt, providing information about when your child is eligible to start at WCPS. If the start date is imminent, you will receive information for your child to attend an observed play session (Reception) or an assessment session (for Years 1 and 2) with us.
  • What schools do the children progress to after WCPS? We send children to a wide range of schools each year with popular destinations being King’s College Junior School,  Shrewsbury House, St. Paul’s Junior School, Milbourne Lodge and Feltonfleet among others. Through meetings with the Head Teacher, every family is guided to select the school where your child will continue to thrive and all preparations are provided through School so that your child is able to give their best in 7+ assessments.
  • How many classes are there in each year group? There are three classes per year group, one of these is smaller in size than the others, due to the design of the school.
  • Are languages taught at WCPS? The children have French lessons every week from when they start with us in Reception.
  • Do you offer Music lessons? We plan to offer individual instrument tuition from September 2023. Music is taught as part of the curriculum.
  • What clubs are on offer and is there an extra charge? We offer many different clubs each week, some run by our school staff and some by external providers. Some clubs have a small charge for materials, others are charged termly by the external provider.
  • Are there buses/coaches available to pick up children from neighbouring areas? We do not currently offer a bus service for our young children. A letter offering a parking concession in the local streets can be applied for from the school office.
  • Do you offer hot lunches? Hot lunches are provided by LunchMunch4Kids, parents are sent a menu and can select meals for their child for as many days in the week as they like. Parents pay the company directly for this. The children can also bring in a packed lunch to eat in school along with a snack.
  • What local nurseries do you recommend? We have children join us from many different nurseries in Wimbledon and beyond. We are not directly linked to any particular setting and do not recommend one nursery in particular.
